🏫 What teaching contexts is this textbook appropriate for?

It is for students who can already hold a basic conversation in English and are ready for the next step: speaking with more nuance, detail, confidence, and natural flow.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

FLUENCY lessons

Goal: building fluency

→ Longer, richer, more detailed expression

→ Fewer unnatural pauses with the use of simple strategies

These task-based lessons focus on developing practical communication skills, such as describing an unfamiliar word or explaining the layout of a room. Students are challenged to help each other complete achievable tasks, developing strategies they can use in real conversations.

CONVERSATION lessons

Goal: conversing in a natural way

→ Step 1 : Explore a topic in an interview / Q&A format (first two pages of the lesson)

→ Step 2 : Leave the questions behind, and instead use reactions and comments to talk (pages 3 and 4 of the lesson)

Conversation lessons develop interaction skills through engaging, topic-based activities. Using the series’ signature phrase toolboxes and scaffolded pair practice, students gradually build longer, richer interactions while learning to respond naturally, show interest in their partner, and share their own experiences and opinions.
